Children’s Day is a reminder of the dreams, innocence, and bright possibilities that every child carries within them. Yet, for many orphan children, this day often passes without any celebration, without any special moment to call their own. At Janjivan Kalyan Foundation, we believe that every child deserves not just love, but unforgettable experiences that make them feel seen, valued, and cherished.
And this Children’s Day, on 14th November, we decided to turn that belief into a beautiful reality.

A Morning Filled with Excitement

The day began with our team visiting the orphanage early in the morning. The children were busy in their usual routines, unaware of the surprise that awaited them. As soon as we gathered them together and announced, “Today, we’re taking you out for a special Children’s Day lunch at Barbeque Nation,” the entire room came alive.
Some children gasped in excitement, some clapped, and others simply stood still—too surprised to react. For many of them, visiting a big restaurant was an experience they had only dreamt of.

While getting ready, the children couldn’t stop asking questions:
“What kind of food will we get?”
“Is it a big place?”
“Will we get dessert too?”
Their innocence and curiosity made the moment even more special.

The Journey Filled with Joy

The bus ride to Barbeque Nation was a celebration in itself. The children sang songs, cracked jokes, and pointed out everything they saw along the way. Some held our volunteers’ hands tightly, a gesture that spoke volumes about the trust and comfort they felt with us. Moments like these remind us why our work matters—because every child deserves companionship, warmth, and someone to share their joy with.

A Warm Welcome at Barbeque Nation

When we arrived, the staff at Barbeque Nation greeted the children with warm smiles. The vibrant interiors, colorful décor, and live grill set-up immediately caught their attention. Their eyes sparkled with wonder—this was a world entirely new to them.

As we guided them to their seats, the excitement grew. Many children whispered to each other, trying to guess the names of the dishes placed before them. A few shyly looked at our volunteers, unsure of how to begin. But the moment the first starter arrived, their hesitation melted away.
The crackling sounds of the grill, the aroma of freshly cooked food, and the cheerful atmosphere created a magical experience for them.

A Meal Full of New Experiences

For some children, this was their very first time trying items like kebabs, grilled vegetables, and various starters. Watching them experiment with new flavors, laugh at their reactions, and eagerly ask for second servings was a heart-touching experience.

The staff at Barbeque Nation made sure the children felt comfortable, often interacting with them, recommending dishes, and refilling plates with care. Their compassion added to the joy of the day.

But perhaps the most delightful part for the kids was the dessert section. From pastries to puddings and from kulfi to ice cream, their excitement knew no bounds. Children rushed to try different flavors, compared their choices, and even playfully argued over which dessert tasted the best.
Their laughter echoed through the restaurant—pure, unfiltered, and unforgettable.

Beyond Food: A Feeling of Belonging

While the delicious meal made the day memorable, the true essence of the celebration was the feeling of belonging that the children experienced. Many of them opened up to our volunteers, sharing small stories from their lives, asking questions, and expressing dreams they held close to their hearts.
Some said they wanted to become doctors, some teachers, and a few even said they wanted to work in a place like Barbeque Nation someday.

As we clicked photos, cracked jokes, and cheered them on while they enjoyed their meal, the bond grew stronger. It was not just a lunch—it was a moment of connection, a reminder to them that there are people who care, who want to see them happy, and who believe in their future.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

When it was time to leave, several children hugged our volunteers tightly.
One little girl said, “This was the best day of my life.”
Another added, “Next year, will you take us again?”
Their words filled our hearts with emotion and strengthened our commitment to continue serving them with love and dedication.

As the bus drove back to the orphanage, the children were calmer, yet their smiles remained wide. They kept talking about their favorite dishes, their favorite moments, and how special the day felt.

A Promise for the Future

For the team at Janjivan Kalyan Foundation, this Children’s Day was not just an event—it was a celebration of humanity, compassion, and hope. It reminded us that happiness does not always come from grand gestures; sometimes, it comes from simply making a child feel special.

We promise to continue creating more such moments, supporting more children, and spreading joy wherever we can.
Because every child deserves love.
Every child deserves dignity.
Every child deserves a day like this.
