At Janjivan Kalyan Foundation, we believe that childhood should be filled with laughter, movement, and moments of joy. With this thought in mind, we recently organized a sports event with orphanage children, where cricket became a medium to connect, encourage, and uplift young hearts.

The event took place on an open cricket ground, simple in setting but rich in energy. From the moment the children arrived, their excitement was visible. Some were curious, some shy, and some already eager to play. As the day unfolded, every child found their place on the field.

What We Did During the Event

The sports event was planned to ensure maximum participation rather than competition. We started with a friendly cricket match where children were divided into teams, guided gently by our volunteers.

As the first ball was bowled, hesitation slowly disappeared. Children began cheering for one another, clapping for good shots, and celebrating wickets together. Those who had never played cricket before were encouraged to try, while others helped their teammates understand the game.

Our volunteers stayed on the field throughout — explaining rules, motivating the children, and making sure no one felt left out. The focus remained on enjoyment, teamwork, and confidence, not on scores or results.

Moments That Made the Day Special

One of the most beautiful parts of the event was watching the children support each other. When someone missed a shot, teammates encouraged them to try again. When someone scored a run, everyone celebrated.

Laughter echoed across the ground. Faces lit up with pride. For many children, this was a rare opportunity to simply play freely, without worry or pressure.

These moments reminded us that sports have the power to heal, uplift, and connect in the simplest ways.

Why Sports Matter for Orphanage Children

Through this sports event with orphanage children, we witnessed how play can positively impact young lives. Sports help children:

  • Gain self-confidence

  • Learn teamwork and cooperation

  • Improve physical and emotional well-being

  • Feel included and valued

Even a few hours of play can create memories that stay with a child for years.

Looking Ahead

This sports event was Part 1 of our initiative, and it has set the foundation for many more such activities. At Janjivan Kalyan Foundation, we are committed to organizing events that support the holistic development of children — emotionally, physically, and socially.

Every smile we saw on the ground strengthened our belief that these efforts truly matter.
